Our research, educational experiences, and applied ethics programs support leaders across academia, industry, government, and nonprofits in addressing the ethical and legal challenges of artificial intelligence.

For Students
Rutgers-Camden students play a central role in advancing the AI Ethics Lab’s ambitious research agenda and curriculum. Whether serving as a research assistant, conducting an independent study, or working as a teaching assistant, students examine the ethical and legal impacts of AI across societal sectors.
- Become a Research Assistant. Apply to join an international research team to identify moral challenges and develop practical policy strategies that foster responsible technologies benefiting humanity and the environment.
- Become a Teaching Assistant. Assist Dr. Nathan C. Walker in teaching undergraduate courses on AI, ethics, and law. Engage in pedagogical reflection on the art and science of teaching and learning.
- Earn Academic Credit. Earn undergraduate or graduate credit by completing a rigorous and engaging learning experience, whether through one of the lab’s AI ethics courses or an independent study.

Learn, Research, Publish
For Experts
The AI Ethics Lab collaborates with scholars, researchers, and expert leaders across academia, industry, government, and nonprofit sectors. We welcome contributors who are interested in advancing the lab’s interdisciplinary research and applied ethics programs.
- Become a Contributing Author. Join an international team of scholars to craft articles for the AI & Human Rights Index.
- Support the Moral Imagination Exchange. Help develop MIX case studies and facilitate Socratic seminars that equip founders of AI-driven products to build ethics-by-design companies.
- Evaluate Decision Infrastructures. Provide founders with feedback on how to develop their company’s DIAL, a Decision Infrastructure for the AI Lifecycle, to help organizations strengthen ethical decision-making across their products.
