Guest Lecture: Digital Politics

The Honors College, Digital Studies Center, and Political Science and Philosophy & Religion departments present Dr. Nathan C. Walker’s guest lecture on his research on AI Principles & U.S. Presidents, as part of the Introduction to Digital Politics class with Professor Tim Knievel.

Tuesday, October 28, 2025 • 4:00 pm to 4:50 pm
AI Ethics Lab, Digital Studies Center
101 Cooper St, Camden, NJ 08102

Dr. Walker will ask, what ethical stances have U.S. presidents taken on artificial intelligence? His research at the AI Ethics Lab answers this question by examining the principles embedded in the executive orders of Presidents across three terms from 2019 to 2025. In this interactive workshop, he will invite you to evaluate how the White House’s legal definitions of AI either supported or contradicted one another. Applying a method called ethics mapping, Dr. Walker invites you to help chart how these administrations framed the risks and benefits of AI. He’ll ask you to reflect on how these laws have influenced and disrupted the global movement to define and build trustworthy AI.
