Safety & Ethics Presentation at UNESCO, Paris

Dr. Nathan C. Walker presented the AI & Human Rights Index at the UNESCO House in Paris as part of the 2026 meeting of the International Association for Safe and Ethical Artificial Intelligence (IASEAI).

Moderated by Dr. Sonja Schmer-Galunder, Professor in AI and Ethics at the University of Florida, panelists explored the intersection of AI, human values, and social norms. Research presentations included:

  • Professor Marc Rotenberg, founder of the Center for AI and Digital Policy, discussed Emerging Trends in AI Governance.
  • Dr. April Yoder, Editor-in-Chief of the AI and Democratic Values Index at the Center for AI and Digital Policy, presented findings from the 2025 Index.
  • Zuzanna Wojciak, Program Associate at WITNESS, highlighted the impact of AI video generation on visual truth and accountability in journalism, human rights reporting, and civic discourse.
  • David Guzman Piedrahita and Irene Strauss, researchers at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, discussed political biases in large language models.
  • Tushita Jha, a researcher at Manipal University in Jaipur, India, argued that human amplification should replace intelligent agents as the primary goal of AI research.
  • Sujal Deoda, a researcher at the International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad, India, identified the value propositions on AI Ethics in the European Union.
