Akshay Wadhavkar is a junior Computer Science major and transfer student at Rutgers University–Camden. As a Bonner Civic Scholar working under the direction of Dr. Michael D’Italia, he focuses on workflow optimization and the technical development of a Social Change Bot designed to facilitate community-driven solutions. As a research assistant at the Rutgers AI Ethics Lab, he contributes to the development of the AI & Human Rights Index and the Declarations of Interdependence project. He also has experience as a web developer for Cooking for Camden, a non-profit dedicated to mitigating hunger and homelessness. He has had the opportunity to apply technical infrastructure to complex social challenges. Through combined efforts in rigorous academic study, ethical research, and community-based experiential learning, Akshay hopes to become a technologist who leverages innovation at the intersection of humanity to uplift well-being and advance the human race.
