AI Ethics Lab Launches Website

Today, the researchers at AI Ethics Lab launched a new branded website at aiethicslab.rutgers.edu to advance their research projects, including the AI & Human Rights Index, Project Insight, and Moral Imagination.

  • The editors of the AI & Human Rights Index apply a digital studies methodology to crowdsource researchers to create a taxonomy of human rights, sectors, ethics, and glossary terms to support the United Nations proposal for a Convention on AI, Data, and Human Rights.
  • Project Insight seeks to address challenges in online behavior and technology use by introducing Self-Reflection Technology to elevate human agency, enhance self-efficacy, and promote a meaningful and responsible digital culture.
  • Moral Imagination is a research and teaching tool that empowers students to practice moral imagination, the ability to picture themselves in an ethical dilemma involving AI, and to understand competing points of view. By applying moral imagination, we cultivate ethical empathy to understand another’s perspective, aware that understanding need not imply agreement. The ultimate objective is to take shared responsibility for contributing to the public’s ethical and legal literacy about artificial intelligence.
