G3. Third Generation Rights (Collective or Solidarity Rights)
These Third Generation Rights extend beyond the individual to focus on the collective rights of communities and societies. They often address global concerns and require international cooperation for their fulfillment.
The emergence of third-generation rights in the 1970s and 1980s reflects the growing awareness of global issues such as development, environmental protection, and peace. These rights are particularly important to developing countries, which advocate for international solidarity in addressing these challenges.
Examples include the right to development; right to a healthy environment; right to peace; and the right to humanitarian assistance.
